In meetings with Governor Hochul and other officials, Sisters In Purple highlighted how New York's previous discovery laws retraumatized survivors and led to the dismissal of domestic violence cases.

Advocacy from Sisters in Purple was a major factor in the passage of the 2025 amendments to the discovery laws. These amendments addressed issues such as automatic dismissal of cases over minor technicalities and protection of sensitive information.
